A sound insulating element presents a plate-shaped element made up of corrugated paper or pasteboard sandwiched with or without intermediate layers between flat strips (4). The corrugations and layers are glued together so their openings (5) stand at right angles to the wall or ceiling (6) carrying the insulating element. The openings are 4-5 mm wide and the element body stands 3 cm high. The element body (2) is set in a wooden frame (8) and set with this directly onto or at 2-3 cm spacing on the wall etc. The frame (8) should be higher than the element body (2) height (7) and/or the height is divided up so the top part of the frame rests directly on body (2) and made up of fiber or wool or cotton. The fibers can be impregnated with biocides such as inorganic phosphates, silicates or borates, giving protection against fire and fungoidal attack.
