In image is applied to a confection substrate (Fig. 2) by applying a frosting sheet (18) bearing an image prepared by a computerized printing method including the steps of (1) scanning the confection to provide a digitized image background, (2) imposing a digitized foreground image on the background to form a complete image, (3) imprinting the complete image with edible inks on a frosting sheet, and (4) applying the imprinted frosting sheet (18) to the surface of the confection. Optionally, the surface of the imprinted confection is mostioned and blotted in order to improve the organoleptic properties of the confection by removing a portion of the frosting sheet or modifying its surface texture. |
