A diaphragm pump for dispensing liquids from a container comprises a housing 12 and a diaphragm 14 defining a compartment having an inlet 42, and an outlet passage 50 and an integral valve-member 16 having a hinged flap 58 covering a valve seat 54 forming an inlet valve, an annular flap 56 having a free deflectible resilient edge 60 engaging, and self-biased against, a cylindrical surface 32 on the housing 14 forming an outlet valve and a hollow circular stem 38 seating in an annular groove 36 in the housing 14 surrounding the inlet passage 42, forming a seal blocking flow along a path between the valves when either valve is open. The diaphragm 14 has a plurality of downwardly directed protrusions 74 engageable with the flap 56 when the central portion 68 of the diaphragm is depressed, to facilitate location of the flap 56 on assembly of the pump. The complete pump may be formed from plastics material by injection moulding.</p> |
