A torque wrench has a drive head (1), a lever arm (2), a torque sensing break mechanism (5,6,7,8) and a handle (4) with means (11) to set the torque at which said mechanism operates. The sensing means (7,8) comprises a coacting cam (7c) and roller (9), the cam profile (7c, 7d) being arranged such on reaching the set torque the roller (9) is displaced along the cam profile (7c, 7d) permitting further movement of the handle (4) through displacement of the break mechanism (5,6,7,8) but without increasing the torque applied to the head(1) through the handle (4).
