The gas is introduced into a drum (1) containing obstacles (7) and movable impact elements. The vibrations caused by particles (8) in the gas striking the impact elements and obstacles as the drum is rotated are then recorded and analyzed. - A method for analyzing (bio)chemical materials in a gas comprises the following steps: - (a) introducing the gas into a rotary drum which contains obstacles and movable impact elements; - (b) rotating the drum so that the impact elements fall onto the obstacles or inside of the drum; - (c) recording the vibrations caused by falling particles striking the impact elements or inside of the drum; and - (d) using the vibrations to determine at least one (bio)chemical characteristic of the gas. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a process for analyzing solid particles using the method described above.
