A METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ISOLATION OF IONIC SPECIES BY ELECTRODIALYSIS

The present invention relates to a method for isolation of ionic species from a liquid. The aim of the invention is to provide a method and an apparatus, which make it possible to separate ionic species from liquids containing solids and particles. The method comprises the steps of electrodialysis and bipolar electrodialysis. The invention further relates to an electrodialysis cell, used in the method, in which the direction of the applied current is changed during the treatment of the liquid, in order to prevent fouling of the membranes.
