The mounting for a rail (1), of a permanent way for a railway or urban tramway and the like where it is embedded in concrete (22) and/or asphalt (26), has a base plate (3) and side clips (6) at the rail bottom (4). Each clip has a pressure spring (8) acting on the rail foot, and at least one sleeper mounting bolt (10) to secure the rail and compress the spring. Each clip has at least one chamber (12) to accommodate the spring.
