The saw bench (1) has a guide device (3) for the saw (2) a few cm. above and essentially parallel to the table plane. The saw blade extends past the guide device to the table plate without hindrance, passes through the table plate via a longitudinal slot (7) formed in the table plate parallel to the guide device and sits in a lateral guide parallel to the slot beneath the penetration plane. Independent claims are also included for the following:- a saw blade for use with the saw bench.
