PURPOSE: Provided is a method for forming a multilayered coating film, wherein a water-soluble organic solvent containing in an unapplied coating material generated during a spray coating process of the base coating material is decomposed by actions of microorganisms to easily make it free from environmental pollution. CONSTITUTION: In a method for forming a multilayered coating film, an organic solvent type base coating material(A) containing a water-soluble organic solvent, a water-based coating(B), and a clear coating material(C) are applied to an object-to-be-coated by a three-coat one-bake method. An unapplied coating material generated during a spray coating process of the base coating material(A) is brought into contact with water to be recovered, and the water-soluble organic solvent containing in the unapplied coating material is decomposed by actions of microorganisms to easily make it free from environmental pollution.
