PURPOSE: A locking control unit of an automatic transmission is provided to make learning of coupling pressure-controlled variable of a locking clutch suitable, and to prevent surging applied shock from being generated. CONSTITUTION: A locking control unit of an automatic transmission(21) includes a learning unit, a memory unit, an initial value-setting unit, and a learning-inhibition unit. The learning unit learns coupling volume-controlled variable during coupling volume control of the locking clutch at a predetermined driving zone. The memory unit memorizes the learned value learned by the learning unit. The initial value-setting unit sets the initial value of the coupling volume-controlled variable based on the learned value by the memory unit when moving to the predetermined driving zone from other driving zone. The learning-inhibition unit inhibits learning by the learning unit when the coolant temperature of the engine connected to the automatic transmission and the oil temperature of the automatic transmission are below predetermined temperature. Therefore, surging shock is prevented.
