PURPOSE: A system and a method for preventing video on demand service from being illegally used are provided to allow only an authenticated user to use video on demand service of the Internet. CONSTITUTION: A system for preventing video on demand service from being illegally used includes a web server connection unit(100), a user authentication unit(200), a control device(300), a media server connection unit(400), a database(500), an input device(600), and a display device(700). The web server connection unit is connected with a web server through a network cable to transmit/receive user authentication data to/from the web server. The user authentication unit confirms the user authentication data to verify a user. The control device opens or closes a data communication path of a media server according to service request data of the authenticated user to interface video on demand service data. The media server connection unit transmits/receives data for the service using a video-on-demand service provider's internal media server and a private Internet protocol. The database stores user information data authenticated by the web server and user information data authenticated by the user authentication unit.
