The invention relates to a chair (1), especially an office chair, comprising a sitting part (15) and a downwards-inclined guiding track (9) for providing the sitting part (15) with a combined downwards and backwards movement or a combined upwards and forwards movement. Said sitting part thus slides along a pre-determined guiding track (9) which is spring-suspended backwards and downwards in many cases. In order to improve the ergonomy of one such chair, a pivoting device having at least one horizontal pivoting axis (13) is provided in order to arrange the sitting part (15) in a pivoting manner. The pivoting device is arranged between the sitting part (15) and the guiding track (9), and is arranged in a moveable manner together with the sitting part (15) along the guiding track (9). A combined movement of the sitting part (15) is thus created, said movement being composed of the co-operation of the pre-determined guiding track (9) and the pivoting movement about the pivoting axis (13) of the pivoting device.
