A growing apparatus and a method for using the same, including: (a) support frame members (12) adapted to support a plurality of longitudinal hollow plant growing tube members (26, 28, 30, 32 etc), having spaced apertures for planting plants in plant growing medium, with the frame members (12) joined together at an upper region wherein the bases of the frame members (12) can be splayed apart at different distances (b) liquid supply means (84, 88 etc) for irrigating the growing medium in each tube member (26, 28, 30, 32 etc) (c) drainage means (86, 90 etc) for draining the liquid from the tube members (26, 28, 30, 32 etc) (d) recirculation means (102) for recirculating the drained fluid wherein, in operation, the liquid supply means (84, 88 etc) and drainage means (86, 90 etc) are controlled and coordinated by the recirculation means (102) so that the growing medium is irrigated for a given period of time before the liquid is drained and recirculated for reirrigation of the growing medium in a periodic cycle. |
