An electrical device having a rigid base member supporting electrical conductive elements and a thermal plastic member heat sealed thereto. A reed relay is described with blades mounted on a rigid ceramic base and hermetically sealed into a switching chamber by a thermal plastic cover member sealed at the periphery to the base member as by heating with a peripheral metal strip or sonic bonding. Localized deformation of the enclosure sets the gap of the contact blade. A blade is positioned in a slanted notch to spring bias the blade against another and the switching blade can be provided with a perforation filled with a precious metal contact material.
