CONTENT DISTRIBUTION/PROTECING METHOD AND APPARATUS

A method for appropriately defining a standard realizable for an MPEG-n IPMP (intellectual property management and protection) system by introducing IPMP tool information placed at the first part of a content stream and an IPMP tool management function placed at the first part of a content decoder as a pre-processing module, and by acquiring an IPMP tool according to the IPMP tool information. To improve the security of different IPMP systems and to provide a terminal compatibility, a two-layer structure is proposed and a user authentication output is defined. The complexity of a terminal is overcome by defining different characteristics when an IPMP tool is acquired.
