PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a train information system capable of setting a train number automatically by a communication between the ground and a train. SOLUTION: The train information system is equipped with a communication means to conduct a communication between the ground and the train using a channel having a specified frequency between a ground telemeter device installed on the ground and an on-train telemeter device installed on the train, a transmission information producing means to produce information for transmitting signals to the train (train number) on the basis of train specifying information acquired from the train, a transmitting means to transmit the produced information to the train, and a setting means to receive the information transmitted for the train and set it on the train.
