PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser pointer, which does not irradiate a laser beam when the laser pointer is pointed to the audience. SOLUTION: The laser pointer, which indicates the object by irradiating a laser beam, is provided with an direction-detecting part which outputs the difference between a particular direction and the direction of the object, a setup part which records a direction range of the object in a memory, a determining part which determines whether the direction output from the direction- detecting part is within the direction range recorded in the memory, and a stop means which suspends the irradiation of the laser beam to the object when the direction output is not within the direction range.
