PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olefin polymerization catalyst which has industrially sufficient activity, and, controls the production of an oligomer and a swell ratio of a produce polyolefin. SOLUTION: The electron density of a chromium atom which is contained in an chromium oxide catalyst supported on a fireproof compound and activated by a heat treatment in a nonreducing atmosphere is controlled.
