PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire the vehicle cross-sectional shape of a vehicle and the vehicle longitudinal-sectional shape passing through the center part (approximate center part) of the vehicle, and thereby acquire the vehicle shape accurately and efficiently. SOLUTION: In this vehicle measuring method using a scanning type range finder, the vehicle longitudinal section which is a section in the vehicle traveling direction, intersecting orthogonally with the road surface where the vehicle which is a measuring object is placed, and the vehicle cross section which is a section intersecting orthogonally with the road surface and the vehicle longitudinal section, and passing through the vehicle roof, are measured.
