PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic cylinder which is most suitable for lifting a heavy object such as a caisson a little over than a surface where the object to be installed and which has a prescribed mechanical strength without involving a redundant lengthening of the size or increasing in the weight. SOLUTION: The hydraulic cylinder is constituted in that the lower end part 4a of a rod head member 4 provided in connection with the upper end part 2a of a rod body 2 is fitted into the upper end side of a cylinder head member 5 while inserting the shaft part 2b of the rod body 2 passing through the axial center part on the lower end part of the cylinder head member 5 provided in connection with the inner periphery of the upper end head part 1a of the cylinder body 1.
