PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively manufacture fine metal powder composed of metal having a melting point as high as >=1,500 deg.C. SOLUTION: In optical heating equipment containing a light source 2 and a reflector 4 for concentrating the light from the light source 2, a tube 6 composed of a light-transmittable material is disposed so that a focus part 7 can be positioned inside. Droplets 11 of raw-material solution containing elements constituting the metal are sprayed toward the focus part 7 by means of an atomizing mechanism 8. The evaporation of solvent in the raw-material solution and also the thermal decomposition of solute are carried out in the focus part 7; and the resultant decomposed solute is cooled after passing through the focus part 7. In this way, the solid metal powder 18 can be formed.
