PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To synthesize an inclusion compound having a large number of substitutions, also high symmetry and fixed conformation. SOLUTION: This calyx [4] arene-substituted phthalocyanine derivative has a structure expressed by the formula (I) [wherein, -X-L- is a linking group for bonding a phthalocyanine nucleus with a calyx [4] arene group; X is O or S; L is an alkylene or an aralkylene; R<1> , R<2> are each H, an alkyl or the like; R<3> is hydroxy, an alkoxy or the like; M is 2H, a divalent metal atom or the like; (n) is 1-4 integer; and * is a bonding site or substituting site].
