PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zeolite formed body having excellent heat resistance, effectively usable as a gas separation membrane such as a molecular sieve membrane or a penetration vaporizing membrane especially in the field requiring high heat treatment, free from breakage at high temperature and capable of forming a zeolite film thereon without causing cracks at high temperatures, to provide an efficient method for producing the same, and to obtain a zeolite coated compound body in which a zeolite film is coated and formed on the zeolite formed body. SOLUTION: This porous zeolite formed body is composed of zeolite crystals obtained by mixing raw materials including a silica sol, drying the mixture to obtain a dried amorphous gel, forming and steam treating the gel, is characterized in that no crystalline phase other than zeolite phase is produced even on further heat treatment at 750 deg.C.
