PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which is simple in structure (consequently control as well), is capable of easily making the temperature distribution in an area corresponding to a paper passage region even and can be made shorter in warming-up time. SOLUTION: The thermal conductivity at both ends 22 in the axial direction of a pressure rotating body 20 is smaller than the thermal conductivity of a central part 21 corresponding to the paper passage region P. The pressure rotating body is composed of an elastic body. Both ends 22 thereof are composed of sponge rubber and the central part 21 thereof is composed of solid rubber. The surfaces at both ends of the pressure rotating body may be coated with a low thermal conductivity resin.
