AREA GRADATION IMAGE FORMING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an area gradation image forming method by which a color mixture and color turbidity are prevented and superior reproducibility of colors including golden red and black dots and high color developing properties are ensured. SOLUTION: In the area gradation image forming method in which a silver halide photosensitive material having yellow, magenta and cyan developing layers each containing a silver halide emulsion having >=95 mol% average silver chloride content on the base is exposed and developed, the maximum yellow density (Dmax) of the yellow developing layer is >=1.5 and absorption when the concentration of a yellow developing coupler is 1.2 is represented by a*<=5 and b*>=85 on the a*b* plane in the CIELAB color space.
