PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift device capable of reducing the projection of a selection operating means into an internal space of a car, and preventing malfunction. SOLUTION: A select device 1 of this shift device is provided with an approximately dome-shaped hemispherical knob 2 firmed in a raised state from a hole 3b of a case 3. The hemispherical knob 2 is a stationary-type knob longitudinally and laterally operated and held on a selected position even unhanding the knob in operation, and is provided with holes 2c-2e for fitting fingers therein. A spherical part 5a of a shaft 6 is longitudinally and laterally slidably rotatably accommodated in an accommodation recessed part 4a of a holder 4 supported in the case 3. A button member 7 is inserted into an upper shaft part 6b of the shaft 6 through a spring 21, and a button part 7e is upwardly projected from a hole 2b of the hemispherical knob 2. A lower end part of the button member 7 is provided with an engagement projecting part 7d, and engaged with an engagement recessed part 15h of a stopper plate 15. When the button part 7e is pressed, the engagement projecting part 7d and the engagement recessed part 15h are disengaged from each other to enable the shifting operation of the hemispherical knob 2.
