1,269,932. Mould. R. J. MADDOX. 21 March, 1969 [21 March, 1968], No. 13739/68. Heading B5A. Expanded polystyrene articles are moulded in a mould of variable configuration comprising a plurality of relatively movable steel rods 24 located within a rectangular steel casing 14, the rods being clamped in the desired configuration by a screw-operated plate located on the inner surface of one of the sides of the casing. Material may be injected through the passages between the rods to form projections on the article. The desired configuration is given to the rods merely by loosening them, pressing one end against a shaped member, and re-clamping the rods. The mould may be moved down rods 28 on to plate 32 in order to return the rods to a planar condition. In a second embodiment (see Fig. 4) such a mould is vertically reciprocably carried upon a wheeled frame 40, a table 55 upon which an article the shape of which is to be reproduced in the mould being pivotably carried by the frame and movable into a position below the mould. The mould is merely moved downward so that the rods contact the article after which clamping is effected to retain the new configuration. |
