PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain excessive lowering of engine output and improve durability of a driving system. SOLUTION: This engine control device is provided with a rotating speed detecting means for detecting the rotating speed of the input side and the rotating speed of the output side of a torque converter 101, and a storage means 3 for storing torque value calculating information used in calculating the input torque value input to a transmission 101 and an upper limit torque value which is a predetermined designated torque value. The device is provided with a torque value calculating information computing means for computing torque value calculating information corresponding to the detected input/output rotating speed of the torque converter 101, an input torque calculating means 11 for computing an input torque value according to the torque value calculating information and the rotating speed, a torque value comparing means for comparing the input torque value with the upper limit torque value, and an engine output control means 13 for controlling the output of an engine according to the comparison result.
