PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carburizing method which does not need a long time for carburizing treatment even when a thick carburized hardening-layer is required, and which has high carburization efficiency, low cost, and little possibility of giving a detrimental effect on environment. SOLUTION: This method includes carburizing in a carburization gas containing rare-earth elements.
