PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink set and a recording method capable of maintaining smooth color gradation after a lapse of time after image printing, and further to provide an ink set and a recording method capable of maintaining color balance after a lapse of time after image printing. SOLUTION: The ink set comprises a plurality of inks for ink jet comprising a color material, a water-soluble organic solvent and water and having the same hue but different in concentration, where a surface tension σ1 of an ink having the largest surface tension and the surface tension σ2 of an ink having the smallest surface tension among inks having the same hue satisfy the relationship represented by expression 1: σ2/σ1>0.7. |
