PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front light unit for a light reflective display device of which brightness and contrast are improved. SOLUTION: The reflective liquid crystal display device 12 is composed of a liquid crystal display panel 2 and a front light unit 13. The front light unit 13 comprises a light guide plate 14 and a light source as main components. On cutting a groove 15 in the front light unit 13, the slope of the groove 15 is adjusted so as to make the outgoing beam A from the light guide plate 14 have the range of 5-15 degrees from the direction of normal line to the end of the light guide plate, that is to the side opposed to the plane where the light source 5 is placed.
