PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce power consumption of a liquid crystal display by conducting power reduction in a power save (an off state) mode and realizing load reduction on a secondary side circuit. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display is provided with a restart signal generating circuit 13, which generates and supplies a power saving (clock stoppage) mode of a control microcomputer 6 by horizontal/vertical synchronization signals. The circuit 13 controls the oscillating circuit of the microcomputer. By controlling the oscillation circuit of the microcomputer 6, using the horizontal/vertical synchronization signals from a PC, the load of the secondary side is reduced as much as possible, and the power consumption in the power save (an off state) mode is further reduced as compared to the conventional cases.
