PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulating paper container which does not cause an environmental problem concerning waste treatment, can be produced at low costs, uses post-foamed insulating paper having a good thermal insulation effect, and is improved in edge wick from the end face of a lamination part and a method for producing the container. SOLUTION: The heat insulating paper container 1 is molded by using the post-foamed insulating paper 2 in which a micro-capsule type heat-expandable foaming agent 20 is added at least in one layer in a paper making process. In the lamination part which is bonded when molded, the foaming agent 20 in the vicinity of the end face of the lamination part is processed to be prevented from foaming by hot press or ultrasonic vibration.
