PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for supporting a skin which can set the skin simply and inexpensively in a short time and improve the moldability of the skin when a resin core material and the skin are molded integrally by using a press molding method and an apparatus for supporting the skin. SOLUTION: Set pins 70a and 70b are arranged in an upper mold 30 for mold press molding. As for a lower mold 40 for mold press molding, a round hole 82 for engaging the fixed side set pin 70b with a set plate 80 corresponding to the fixed side set pin 70b is formed. As regards the set plate 80a corresponding to the movable side set pin 70a, a slot hole 83 is formed in the slide direction of the movable side set pin 70a so that the movable side set pin 70a is slid along the slot hole 83 of the set plate 80 corresponding to tension applied to the skin 12 to apply proper tension to the skin 12.
