<p>Acrylonitrile-vinylidene chloride copolymers consist of 55-75% wt. acrylonitrile units, 25-45% wt. vinylidene chloride units, and up to 10% wt. units of another monomer, and have a colour number, determined with a 13% wt. soln. of the copolymer after treating for 6 hrs. at 75 degrees C, of at most 0.5, a solubility number, determined with a 30% wt. soln. in dimethylformamide, of at most 0.06, and a bonding temp. of at least 180 degrees C. Used for prodn of non-flammable threads for textile purposes. Homogeneous spinning solns. are easily produced. The fibres have a very good degree of whiteness and a high softening temp.</p> |
