Increasing sensitivity of radiochromatographic analyser - by use of grid above cathode

Substance to be analysed is placed on a chromatographic plate after addition of isotope emitting alpha- and alpha-radiation, and is observed with scintillation detector. The samples placed on a cathode surface, with a grid parallel to it and on anode spaced from the grid. The cathode is at a negative potential, pref. -10 to -500V, w.r.t. the grid. Sensitivity to low energy emission is increased.
