PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce the amount of animation pseudo contours while considering the characteristics of the movement of display contents in a display device in which one field is divided into a plurality of subfields having different relative ratios in luminance and gradation is expressed by making the state of each subfield to a light emitting or a non-light emitting state. SOLUTION: A plurality of combinations of light emission and non-light emission of a plurality of subfields expressing one gradation is provided by including relative ratios of luminance that are not a power of two. Then, any one of the plurality of combinations is selected according to the patterns of the movement of the display contents. The selection is made by: setting each code of each gradation to code conversion sections A1 to An in a code converting section 8a, detecting the pattern of the movement with a movement detecting circuit section 10, and making a control section 6a conduct conrolling so that a selection section 9 selects a code that is beforehand set for every pattern of the movement of each gradation. |
