PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the regeneration of a crosslinked polyolefin such as a crosslinked polyethylene or a crosslinked polypropylene into a noncrosslinked polyolefin having a molecular weight near to that of the polyolefin before being crosslinked. SOLUTION: The process for the regeneration of a crosslinked polyolefin comprises the contact and reaction of a crosslinked polyolefin along with a coal powder in a reaction vessel with a supercritical or subcritical water, to give a noncrosslinked polyolefin.
