PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the miniaturization and weight reduction of a lens barrel. SOLUTION: In the lens barrel 10C constituted by bisecting the lens barrel 20C into a front lens barrel 26 and a rear lens barrel 27 in the length direction, an aperture part 27c is formed at one part of the outer peripheral part of the rear lens barrel 29, an inverse U-shaped projected part 27d opposed to the aperture part 27c across an optical axis K is formed so as to be projected from the outer peripheral part of the rear lens barrel 27, and the end part of the bracket 57 of an iris assembly body 55 is inserted from the aperture part 27c so that an iris 50 is aligned with the optical axis K and also the end part of the bracket 57 is housed in the inside of the inverse U-shaped projected part 27d, and furthermore, at least either a motor assembly body 45 for a variable power lens or a motor assembly body 75 for a focus lens is attached along the outer peripheral part of the rear lens barrel 27 whose height is smaller than that of the inverse U-shaped projected part 27d.
