PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system of a lens interchangeable camera which makes it possible to use information of a rear converter through simple constitution. SOLUTION: The lens interchangeable camera to which the rear converter 300 can be mounted between a KAFIII photographic lens 200 having a function for communication through the connection of terminal groups when the converter is mounted, and a camera body 100. The rear cover 300 is equipped with a repeating terminal group connecting the camera body 100 and the terminal group of the KAFIII photographic lens 200, a rear control ROM 321 which is connected to a specific terminal in the repeating terminal group and has written information on the rear converter 300, and a rear control CPU 311; and the rear control CPU 311 has a function for transmitting rear control information to the camera body 100 in synchronism with communication when communicating information of the photographic lens from the KAFIII photographic lens 200 to the camera body 100.
