PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication system that uses, as a light emitting source, a surface-emitting semiconductor laser element chip operable with a low voltage and a low oscillation threshold current, etc., and that can obtain superior optical coupling of this laser element and an optical fiber. SOLUTION: The optical fiber which is optically coupled to the light emitting part of the laser chip is made to be mechanically connected by making the fiber axial direction to be in a pressed state in the direction toward the light emitting part.
