PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate with no variation in parallel and vertical transmittance and capable of providing a bright liquid crystal display device with excellent color reproducibility and a liquid crystal display device using the same. SOLUTION: The polarizing plate comprises a polarizer formed of a polyvinyl alcohol type film with a protective film laminated on at least one surface of it and has a >=43.0% transmittance as a single substance and a >=99.8% polarization degree. With respect to the polarizing plate, parallel transmittance at 440 nm wavelength Tp 440, vertical transmittance at 440 nm wavelength Tc 440, parallel transmittance at 550 nm wavelength Tp 550 and parallel transmittance at 610 nm wavelength Tp 610 simultaneously satisfy following inequalities (1), (2) and (3). 0.85<=Tp 440/Tp 550<=1.10 (1) 0.90<=Tp 610/Tp 550<=1.10 (2) 1,000<=Tp 440/Tc 440 (3). |
