The support 1 is clamped to the workpiece 2 by a magnet or vacuum cup 6 and is aligned relative to the length of the workpiece 2 by an angular adjusting screw 7. The carriage 10 is movable along a rack 4 on the support 1 by a pinion driven by a motor (5a) (Fig. 2, not shown). A rail 11 of the carriage 10 is vertically movable through rotatable guides 12 by a motor (5) driven pinion engaging a rack (19) on the rail 11, and includes holes 14 for mounting a boom rack 16 at a desired position. A sleeve 17 for mounting a torch 21 having a pivotable tip 25, is movable along the boom rack 16 either manually or by a motor (30).
