PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide type grating which is produced in a quartz-based optical waveguide through the use of a photoinduced refractive index change and of which the temperature dependency is improved, and to provide its producing method, an optical filter using the grating and a wavelength multiplex optical transmission system using the optical filter. SOLUTION: The alkoxide of Si, e.g. TEOS is mainly utilized as a raw material so as to form a core and a clad by a CVD method. Then they are irradiated with an eximer laser via a phase mask, the grating 13 is formed in the core and chromium or platinum thin film heater (a heater electrode 14a, an input/output electrode 14b and a current lead 14c) is manufactured on the optical waveguide. The Bragg center wavelength of the grating is finely adjusted by controlling a current to the thin film heater and the optical filter is produced which is adaptive to an optical signal multiplexed in wavelength with high density. |
