PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a useful new ester compound, and to provide an excellent insecticide composition which contains the ester compound as an active ingredient and can effectively control various kinds of insect pests and mites. SOLUTION: The new ester compound is represented by the general formula I R is a group represented by the general formula II, III or IV [R1 and R2 are each the same or different and denote each H, F, Cl, methyl, or trifluoromethyl; R3 is H or methyl; R4 is a 1 to 4C lower alkyl]}, and the insecticide composition contains the ester compound as an active ingredient.
