PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material having low fog, high Dmax (maximum density) and small temperature and humidity dependencies in development and less liable to increase fog even after long-term storage after development. SOLUTION: In the heat developable photosensitive material having a non- photosensitive organic silver salt, photosensitive silver halide, a reducing agent for silver ions and a binder on the base, the photosensitive silver halide comprises silver halide grains having <=0.12μm grain size and >=50 mol% silver bromide content and at least one compound imagewise generating a chemical species capable of forming development starting points on the non-photosensitive organic silver salt and in its vicinities is contained.
