PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the rotational speed of an engine with satisfactory accuracy, even in a period in which an REF signal is not input. SOLUTION: A computed result by a first rotational-speed computing means to which the REF signal to be output for the detection of the position of a reference crank angle is input from a rotation angle sensor and which computes the rotational speed of the engine on the basis of the time interval of the REF signal is compared with a computed result, by a second rotational-speed computing means which computes the rotational speed of the engine, on the basis of the time elapsed from the input of the REF signal. The computed result which is smaller is detected as the final rotational speed of the engine.
