PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the adjustability of valve clearance adjustment. SOLUTION: Engine 10 is provided thereon with a plurality of ratchet teeth 28 coaxially with a pivot in the circumferential direction and a latch member 27 urged in the direction fitting into the ratchet teeth 28. In the locked state, the rotation of the pivot 24 is regulated by the fitting of the latch member 27 into the ratchet teeth 28. When the rotational force is imparted to the pivot 24, the pivot is rotated while the latch member 27 is intermittently retracted from the ratchet teeth 28 against the urging force. When the rotational force to the pivot 24 is released, the pivot 24 is returned to the locked state by the urging force. In switching between the locked state and the released state the operations of tightening and loosening a lock nut are not required.
