PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate extension and compression of a piston rod in a gas spring and to prevent an occurrence of rust. SOLUTION: A seal guide 11 integrally forming a seal portion 12 and a rod guide main body 13 is press-fitted into an opening portion at an end portion of a cylinder 2, and a piston rod 4 is slidably inserted through the seal portion 12 and the rod guide main body 13. The seal guide 11 is fixed by crimping the pointed end of the opening of the cylinder 2 into the inside. As the rod guide main body 13 is covered by means of a covering portion 15A extended from the seal portion 12 and is also elastically supported by this covering portion 15A, An error of a central position with the piston rod 4 can be absorbed, and extension and compression of the piston rod 4 can be also facilitated. As a pointed end portion 9 of the opening of the cylinder 2 crimped to fix the seal guide 11 is stuck together with a lip portion 16 extended from the covered portion 15A and is also not exposed to the outside, occurrence of rust can be prevented.
