PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small and simple braking device of a winch exhibiting a good operativity. SOLUTION: A hydraulically driven winch loaded on a movable crane or a pile driver needs self-weight lowering to lower by a self-weight of a suspended article in addition to power lowering to lower by a motor power when the suspended article is lowered. A brake drum 2 as a different body is mounted on an output shaft 4b of a winch drum 1 internally arranging a planetary reducing mechanism 4 comprising an input shaft 4a to be connected with a hydraulic motor 3 and a brake spring 32 is mounted on a brake lever 16 for fastening a brake band 15 wound around the brake drum 2 and additionally a rod of a releasing cylinder 31 for contracting the brake spring 32 is connected by a pin 33. A single-moving brake cylinder 35 to be operated by operation of a brake pedal 13 for braking the winch drum 1 at the self-weight lowering is connected with the brake lever 16 by a pin 36.
